What this site provides

Retrofit Planner provides free online calculators and guides to help UK homeowners estimate the costs and savings of home energy improvements. Our tools are for informational purposes only.

Not professional advice

Our calculators produce estimates based on national averages and published data. They are not substitutes for professional energy assessments, building surveys, or installer quotes. Results should not be treated as guaranteed outcomes. Always obtain professional assessments and multiple quotes before committing to any installation.

Accuracy

We make every effort to ensure our data is accurate and up to date. We source data from official bodies including Ofgem, the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero, the Energy Saving Trust and GOV.UK. However, we cannot guarantee absolute accuracy. Energy prices, grant schemes, and installation costs change regularly. See our methodology page for full details on our data sources and calculation methods.

Commercial relationships

This site has no advertising, and no one pays to appear in or influence our calculator results. A few clearly marked links are affiliate links through the Awin network, and we may earn a commission if you order through one. Quote requests are paused at present. When they are open and you agree to it, we introduce you to up to three certified installers or energy assessors, who may pay us a fee for each introduction. That never changes any figure on this site.

Quote requests

Quote requests are paused at present. When they are open and you ask for quotes, we pass your request only to installers or assessors holding the certification the work needs. We are an introducer only. We are not a party to any quote or contract you agree with them, we do not carry out or guarantee their work, and any agreement is between you and them. Check every quote carefully, and ask the questions on our confirmation page before you commit.

Grant information

Grant eligibility criteria change frequently. Our grant checker is based on published scheme rules but should not be treated as a definitive eligibility assessment. Always verify with the scheme administrator before making financial decisions based on expected grant funding.

Liability

Retrofit Planner is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. As far as the law allows, we are not liable for any losses or damages arising from your use of our calculators, guides, or any decisions made based on information provided on this site.

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that the law does not allow us to limit or exclude.

Intellectual property

The content, design, and code of this website are the property of Retrofit Planner. Our calculators use public sector data licensed under the Open Government Licence v3.0. You may link to our calculators and share our content, and you may embed our calculators on the terms set out on our embed page, but you may not otherwise reproduce our tools or substantial portions of our content without permission.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring proceedings in your local courts.

We may update these terms from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top of this page indicates when these terms were last revised.
