A combi boiler costs from £1,000 to £3,700 across six of the best known makes, in the price ranges the online installer Heatable publishes. Alpha starts lowest, at £1,000, and Vaillant runs highest, to £3,700.

Heatable, "New boiler installation costs 2026", updated 25 September 2026, read 5 October 2026. These are one installer's ranges for the boilers it sells, not manufacturers' list prices and not a market survey. Heatable's table does not say whether fitting is included, and its ranges start at £1,000, below the £1,800 at which its own installed prices start, so read the table as how the makes compare, not as a quote for the whole job.

The ranges overlap far more than they differ. A Worcester Bosch or Viessmann combi is £1,500 to £3,500, and an Ideal or Baxi one £1,300 to £2,500: the top of the second range sits well inside the first. Within any make, the model and its output move the price more than the badge does.

Typical installed prices from 2,000 Heatable quotes, January to June 2026: one firm's prices, so a local installer may quote more or less.

The national average for a new gas boiler is about £3,500 including VAT, on the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero's figure. Our new boiler cost guide covers conversions, extras and what a quote should include, and the new boiler cost calculator prices the job for your home.

The guarantees the makers state run up to 12 years, and every one has conditions: usually that the boiler is registered within 30 days of fitting, fitted by an installer in the maker's own scheme, and serviced every year.

Each line is from the manufacturer's own website, read 5 October 2026: the Worcester Bosch Greenstar 8000+ page, the Vaillant ecoTEC exclusive page and its domestic boiler guarantee terms, Viessmann's warranty page, Ideal Heating's boiler warranties guide and Baxi's warranty registration page. Guarantees differ by model, so check the one you are quoted. We did not check Alpha's guarantee, so it is not listed.

The length on the advert is the longest on offer, not what every boiler gets. Vaillant's terms say an unregistered guarantee reverts to 12 months; Viessmann's falls to 2 years; Ideal's may be limited to 12 months. Vaillant, Viessmann and Baxi all require a service every year, and the cost of that service is not part of the guarantee.

Is a premium brand worth it?

We do not rank brands: there is no independent reliability data we could check. The fuel saving is the same for any A-rated boiler.

We do not rank the brands, because we have found no independent reliability data we could check. What can be compared on published figures is the price range and the guarantee, above.

Heatable, which sells them all, says premium brands such as Worcester Bosch, Vaillant and Viessmann usually cost more upfront but often come with strong warranties, good parts availability and a long track record, and that Ideal, Alpha and Baxi can be more affordable while still performing well when fitted correctly. That is a seller's view, so weigh it as one.

The fuel saving does not depend on the badge. The Energy Saving Trust's figures, about £190 to £350 a year in a semi-detached house replacing an old gas boiler, are for any A-rated condensing boiler with new controls. Our guide to whether it is worth replacing an old boiler has them by type of home.

How to compare quotes across brands

Hold the model, output, guarantee and extras equal, and get three quotes.

Read the detail

Compare the whole job, not the boiler's name. Heatable's own list of what a fair comparison holds equal: the same or an equivalent boiler model, the same warranty length, the flue kit, a magnetic filter, the controls, a chemical flush or system clean, any gas pipe upgrade, VAT, Gas Safe registration, waste removal and the cost of finance if you pay monthly.

Ask each installer for the boiler's make, model and output in kW in writing, and why that size: see what size boiler you need. Get at least three quotes, as the Energy Saving Trust recommends.

Frequently asked questions

Which boiler brand is cheapest?

In Heatable's published ranges, Alpha starts lowest, at £1,000 for a combi, with Ideal and Baxi from £1,300 and Worcester Bosch, Vaillant and Viessmann from £1,500. These are one installer's ranges, updated 25 September 2026.

How much is a Worcester Bosch boiler?

£1,500 to £3,500 for a combi and £1,200 to £2,600 for a system or regular boiler, in Heatable's published ranges. Fitted, a like-for-like swap of any make typically costs £1,800 to £3,500.

Which boiler has the longest guarantee?

Worcester Bosch states up to 12 years on its Greenstar 8000+ and Ideal 12 years on its Vogue Max boilers, both with conditions. Vaillant and Baxi state up to 10 years, and Viessmann 7 years as standard on many boilers.

Does a boiler guarantee need an annual service?

Vaillant, Viessmann and Baxi all say so on their own sites, and most makers require the boiler to be registered within 30 days of fitting. Check the terms for the model you are quoted.

Is a more expensive boiler more efficient?

Not necessarily. The Energy Saving Trust's saving figures are for any A-rated condensing boiler with new controls, whatever the make. Price follows the model, its output and the guarantee.
